Plans, directs, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates the activities of the Housekeeping Department of the Hospital to meet the Department’s mission, goals, and objectives as detailed in the Department’s Policies and Procedures and standards of the institution. Undertakes special assignments as delegated by the Executive Director of Corporate Operations. Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the management and operations of the Housekeeping Department.
Responsibilities
. Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Housekeeping department to including appropriate cleaning of all rooms, spaces, public areas and offices.
. Establishes and reviews policies and procedures for the Housekeeping department and develops annual, measurable departmental goals.
. Conducts regular reviews of section staff performance and analyzes reports to identify any areas for continuous developments.
. Defines staff performance and addresses potential or actual problems with appropriate personnel.
. Liaises and collaborates with department heads to ensure a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.
. Participates in planning new services and expanding existing ones.
. Coordinates the budget planning process as delegated by the Executive Director of Corporate Operations.
. Sets and evaluates Housekeeping standards of service and facilitates process improvements.
. Acts as a role model and serves as a resource person for staff.
. Responds to Code Red and Disaster calls within the department’s scope of responsibility.
. Ensures all hospital staff are familiar with the Waste Management Code of Practice.
. Manages and oversees hospital linen services, conducting regular inventory checks.
. Evaluates the appropriate use of hospital resources impacting the Housekeeping department and implements efficiency improvements.
. Conducts regular surveys and inspections, with timely follow-up on reported actions.
. Promotes a culture of reporting errors and incidents among personnel and implements incident reporting protocols.
. Ensures the consistent implementation of policies and procedures within the Housekeeping Department.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Hospitality or a related field
Certification in Food Hygiene and Safety
Membership in a Professional Institute or Society
