Description
The Interpreter serves as a liaison between clinical and administrative staff and the patient. Strong commitment to patient advocacy and ability to interpret patients responses and needs are essential. They shall be familiar with medical terminology and have ability to understand and present information of a scientific or technical nature. They shall be comfortable discussing sensitive or personal issues. In addition to providing language translation services, the Interpreter shall perform clerk receptionist and patient advocate responsibilities as applicable

Languages: English, Arabic, Urdu,Filipino,Hindi and Pashtu language preferred. Responsibilities
Recognizes and responds to verbal and non-verbal communication. The interpreter ensures all messages are accurate and complete and does not add, omit or substitute any part of the message. The Interpreter advises the patient that everything said will be replicated and correct errors in interpretation maintaining transparency.
Confidentiality is to be maintained. The Interpreter protects written patient information in his/her possession. The interpreter does not not allow personal judgement or cultural values to influence objectivity. Potential conflicts of interest are disclosed and the Interpreter withdraws from assignments if appropriate.

Helps the clerk to retrieve charts from the clinic reception desk.
Directs patients to the exam room, lab or radiology, assisting them in any way possible. Conveys the patients concern to the appropriate staff. Possess ability to recognize confidential information and those items needing additional information and follows the hospital policy for confidentiality. Train other translators up on the supervisor request. Maintains professional demeanor at all times. Types written documents as necessary.

Has the ability to interact effectively, clearly and professionally with people from different cultural backgrounds. Must have an in depth knowledge of medical terminology. Work independently within a flexible schedule. May
need to work nights, weekends and Public Holidays. Has computer skills. Accurately converts spoken language statements from one language to another
Requirements
Experience: 2 - 3 years
Bachelor Degree required
Good English required
Male preferred
