- A pulmonologist, also known as a respiratory specialist, is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the lungs and respiratory system. They focus on the airways, lungs, and air sacs (alveoli), as well as the blood vessels that supply the lungs. Pulmonologists may also be involved in treating sleep-related breathing disorders like sleep apnea.

- Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in pulmonology.
Valid and active medical license in the state you wish to practice.
