- A Laser Technician or photonic technician is a trained professional responsible for operating and maintaining laser systems. They ensure that these systems are functioning properly and safely, and they may also be tasked with creating or modifying the equipment used in their workplace. An experienced individual knows about running and using laser devices for medical purposes: their responsibility is to assemble, test, recalibrate, and repair laser devices or actual lasers. Laser technicians must have a thorough understanding of how lasers work and how to properly operate them. In the healthcare industry, laser technicians perform specialized cosmetic procedures that use laser technology, such as hair, tattoo and cellulite removal.
