Description: Evaluating the dental health of patients and diagnosing oral diseases
Performing surgical procedures on the teeth, bone and soft tissues of the oral cavity
Administering general and local anesthetics to patients to eliminate pain during procedures
Extracting impacted, damaged, and non-restorable teeth
Designing, making, and fitting prosthodontic appliances such as space maintainers, bridges, and dentures, or writing fabrication instructions or prescriptions for denturists and dental technicians
Correcting abnormal jaw relations by realigning jaws and teeth
Providing emergency treatment of facial injuries including intra-oral lacerations, fractured facial bones and avulsed teeth
Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as orthodontists and prosthodontists, to plan treatment
Educating patients on post-surgical care and providing instructions for home care
Keeping records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them
