- Clinical pathologists look at blood, urine, and other body fluid samples under a microscope, or with other diagnostic tools. They watch levels of certain chemicals or other substances in the body. A diagnosis or decision to do further study is then made based on the test results.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
4 to 7 years’ internship and residency training, specializing in pathology.
Valid and active medical license in the state you wish to practice.
Experience using lab testing equipment, such as microscopes and flow cytometers.
