Description: A “chest physician,“ also known as a pulmonologist or respiratory medicine specialist, is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases affecting the respiratory system, including the lungs, airways, and breathing mechanisms, managing conditions like asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, lung cancer, COPD, and sleep apnea, often utilizing diagnostic tools like lung function tests, chest X-rays, and bronchoscopies to develop treatment plans involving medication, oxygen therapy, breathing exercises, or surgery.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in pulmonology.
Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
Certification by The American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonology.
Valid and active medical license in the state you wish to practice.
