Description: Meeting with patients prior to medical procedures to discuss their health history and to explain the anesthesia process
Administering anesthesia to patients, or supervising anesthetists or nurse anesthetists who do so
Monitoring patients’ vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, during procedures to adjust anesthesia levels as needed
Providing pain relief and maintenance, or restoration of stable condition during and immediately following an operation
Directing and coordinating activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, residents and other medical staff
Keeping up to date with advancements in anesthesia technology and techniques for the benefit of patients
Conducting research to improve anesthesia procedures
Communicating with patients post-procedure to assess their level of comfort and side effects
Documenting and maintaining comprehensive medical records of all patient care
