- We are looking for a capable infectious disease Consultant / Specialist. With a strong understanding of clinical microbiology, infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship, an Infectious Disease Specialist will need to make the right diagnosis and provide the best course of treatment for the patients.
Some of the Responsibilities include:
Obtain medical, social and developmental history of patients.
Perform physical exams and immunizations on all patients.
Diagnose and develop treatment plans with the patient. Management of all acute and chronic illnesses.
Provide health education and counseling and establish preventive health practices.
Prescribes and administers medications or delegates immunization duties to the clinical support staff as allowed by the country and professional guidelines.
Initiate laboratory, radiology, and pathology exams and specialty consults as necessary.
Review and follow up on incoming reports in a timely manner.
Exercise judgment in establishing priorities of medical care and consult with and refer to appropriate specialists in regards to high risk or complex patients.
Assist with training, orientation and clinical support for new providers, advanced practice providers, and clinical support staff.

Your first step is medical school. Typically, you’ll need excellent GCSEs and three A or A* passes at A level including chemistry for a five-year undergraduate degree in medicine. Many medical schools also ask for biology and others may require maths or physics.
If you already have a degree, you could study for a four-year postgraduate degree in medicine.
You’ll need to pass an interview and admissions test. You’ll be asked to show how you demonstrate the NHS values such as compassion and respect.
Some medical schools look to recruit a mix of students from different backgrounds and geographical areas, so your educational and economic background and family circumstances could be considered as part of your application.
