Responsibilities for anesthesia technician
Cleans, sterilizes and sets up all anesthesia equipment
Assists in the preparation of scheduled, emergent and urgent surgical procedures involving anesthesia care providers by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available, in working order & in proper location
Maintenance of Equipment – Maintains an efficient level of anesthesia equipment, , spinal nerve block and epidural sets with an assortment of cannulas, endotracheal tubes, masks, oral and nasal airways, ample drugs, EKG pads and strippers, and all other equipment which are essential to start the day’s surgical schedule
Provide safe, efficient and cost effective support in anesthesia for all surgical cases ranging from infants to geriatrics
Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, ventilators and monitors
Prepare and set intravenous (IV) lines
Calibrate and record the anesthesia monitors for accuracy
Changes breathing tubing between cases, empties trash bins and changes suction canisters and tubing
Assembles and maintains standardized procedure kits for blocks, central lines, arterial line, blood product infusions and fiber optic scopes
Maintains adequate par-levels for non-stock supplies and communicates any shortages to the Surgical Materials Specialist
