- Youll use hand and machine tools to cut and shape wood and sometimes other materials such as plastic, metal and fabric. Youll assemble pieces of furniture and add parts like brackets and hinges as well as finishes like varnishes and polishes. You might also restore antique objects or repair more modern pieces.
