Description: Identifying health needs early, and assessing student health needs
Providing care
Treating injuries and illnesses, administering first aid, and dispensing prescription medications
Developing plans
Developing health care plans for students with chronic health needs, and updating health-related policies and procedures
Educating
Teaching students and staff about hygiene and safety practices, and providing pastoral care
Communicating
Communicating with parents, teachers, and other professionals about health problems
Maintaining a safe environment
Supporting wellness activities, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment
Screening
Conducting hearing and vision screenings, and taking students temperatures
Maintaining documentation
Maintaining documentation on student care services, and verifying vaccination records
Responding to emergencies
Responding effectively to emergency medical situations, and referring emergency situations to parents, physicians, and hospitals

Requirements: Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness
Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
Detect health problems in early stages through regular screenings
Keep track of students’ vaccination records
Update students’ medical history
Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
Write referrals for pediatricians and other health specialists
Ensure compliance with national and local health laws
