- A pulmonologist, or respiratory physician, specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of the respiratory system, including the lungs and airways. They assess, diagnose, and treat patients with respiratory problems, managing conditions like asthma, COPD, pneumonia, and lung cancer. Pulmonologists also perform procedures like bronchoscopies and spirometry.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in pulmonology.
Exceptional attention to detail.
