Description: Assess patients: Evaluate a patients mental and physical health, social situation, and any risk factors
Create treatment plans: Design individualized care plans that may include medication, therapy, or behavioral interventions
Monitor patients: Review treatment regularly to determine its effectiveness and side effects
Collaborate with other professionals: Work with psychologists, nurses, and social workers to discuss treatment plans and progress
Educate patients and their families: Advise patients and their families about their condition and treatment
Conduct research: Stay up to date on new treatments and interventions, and publish findings
Maintain records: Keep detailed records of patient interactions and decisions
Provide crisis intervention: Help patients in crisis

Requirements: Doctor of Medicine.
4 years of psychiatric residency.
Board of Psychiatry certification and state license.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Superior listening ability and emotional intelligence.
Expert diagnostic skills.
