- An orthopedist, or orthopedic surgeon, diagnoses and treats conditions and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. They may use both surgical and non-surgical methods, including prescribing medications and performing procedures like joint replacements or bone grafts. Orthopedists also play a role in rehabilitation and can refer patients to physical therapists or other specialists as needed.

- Doctorate degree in orthopedic surgery
Valid medical license
Evidence of at least five (2) years of experience treating orthopedic conditions
Preparation for board certification
Ability to speak and write English
Knowledge of patient insurance and reimbursement practices
