- Orthopedic surgeons work with a wide variety of patients who suffer from ailments affecting their musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. They address physical traumas, such as injuries, infections, and other conditions requiring either noninvasive orthopedic procedures or surgical intervention.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
4 to 7 years’ internship and residency training, specializing in orthopedic surgery.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Outstanding hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
Wonderful bedside manner.
Excellent communicator who can empathize with patients.
