- Patient Assessment:
Nurses evaluate patients physical and mental condition, gather health history, and identify needs.
Care Planning:
They develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, working with other healthcare professionals.
Medication Administration:
Nurses administer medications as prescribed, monitor patient responses, and manage IVs.
Monitoring and Documentation:
They closely observe patients, record vital signs, document patient progress, and maintain accurate medical records.
Patient Education:
Nurses provide information and support to patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, and preventative care.
Collaboration:
Nurses work closely with doctors, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Advocacy:
They advocate for patients rights and needs, ensuring they receive appropriate care and have access to necessary resources.
Additional Duties:
Performing wound care and dressing changes.
Assisting with medical procedures and surgeries.
Providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
Supervising and delegating tasks to other healthcare staff (e.g., LPNs, CNAs).
Maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Participating in quality improvement initiatives.
