- A Nursing Assistant, or Healthcare Assistant, provides basic care for patients in a hospital, clinic, or long-term healthcare facility. Their duties include administering prescribed medications to patients, monitoring their vital signs, and assisting them with day-to-day functioning and activities. They also help patients with daily tasks, monitor health symptoms and perform some domestic tasks. Nursing Assistants work under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, like registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs)
