Description
Patient Care:
Perform daily rounds, examine patients, and provide comprehensive medical care to neonates, including diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, disorders, and injuries.
Critical Care Management:
Lead and manage critically ill neonates in the NICU, including life-saving interventions, and supervise neonatal resuscitation efforts.
Consultative Services:
Serve as a consultant in neonatology, providing expert advice to other medical services and assisting with pediatric cases.
Team Leadership:
Collaborate with and lead a multidisciplinary team of nurses, pediatricians, and other specialists to ensure high-quality, comprehensive care.
Treatment Planning:
Develop and implement individualized and evidence-based treatment plans for neonates with complex medical conditions.
Family Support:
Communicate effectively with families, providing education, emotional support, and updates on their infants medical status and care plan.
Quality Improvement & Research:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and continuous professional development to advance neonatal medicine.
Emergency Coverage:
Provide on-call emergency coverage for neonatal emergencies, both in the hospital and at difficult deliveries.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: A medical degree, completion of a residency and internship, and successful board certification in neonatology.

Experience: Proven experience in the care of newborns, with specific experience in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) highly preferred.
Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of current neonatal standards, practices, and protocols.
Technical Skills: Ability to order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory examinations, X-rays) and to perform specialized examinations.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to make critical decisions efficiently.
Compassion: A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient and family care.
