- Transcribe audio recordings:
Convert voice-recorded notes from physicians and other healthcare providers into formal written documents.
Review and edit documents:
Correct errors in drafts generated by speech recognition software, ensuring accuracy, proper grammar, and correct use of medical terminology and abbreviations.
Verify information:
Ensure the completed transcription is complete, consistent, and correct before submitting it for approval or filing it in the patients medical record.
Manage medical records:
Input finalized reports into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Maintain confidentiality:
Follow strict guidelines to protect patient privacy and the security of medical information.
Liaise with healthcare providers:
Clarify inconsistencies or missing details in reports by following up with the dictating healthcare provider.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Strong listening skills: To accurately understand varied accents, dictation speeds, and challenging medical terminology.
Typing proficiency: Essential for quick and accurate conversion of audio to written documents.
Medical terminology knowledge: A strong grasp of medical language, including abbreviations and jargon, is required.
Excellent grammar and proofreading skills: To produce clear, accurate, and error-free reports.
Computer literacy: Proficiency with transcription equipment, software, and EHR systems.
Attention to detail: Crucial for ensuring the precision of medical records, which can have serious consequences for patient care
