- Preventive Care:
Performing routine check-ups, including pelvic and breast exams, Pap smears, cancer screenings, and STI testing.
Diagnosis and Treatment:
Identifying and treating conditions of the female reproductive organs, breasts, and hormonal system, such as fibroids, endometriosis, and STIs.
Family Planning:
Providing guidance and prescriptions for birth control and assisting with pregnancy planning.
Management of Conditions:
Prescribing medications and performing surgeries (like laparoscopies) to manage reproductive health issues.
Patient Education:
Advising women on reproductive health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
Collaboration:
Working with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
For Obstetrician-Gynecologists (OB/GYNs), these responsibilities extend to:
Prenatal Care: Monitoring the health of both mother and fetus during pregnancy.
Labor and Delivery: Assisting with childbirth, including vaginal births, Cesarean sections, and other delivery procedures.
Postpartum Care: Providing care and support to new mothers after childbirth.
