- A general practitioner (GP) is a primary care doctor who treats a variety of medical conditions and manages the health of their patients. Their responsibilities include:
Diagnosing and treating patients
GPs examine patients, take their medical histories, and order diagnostic tests to diagnose health issues. They also prescribe and administer medications and treatments.
- Requirements
- Medical Degree.
Successful completion of a 3-year residency training program.
Registration with an appropriate health professions board.
Proven experience as a General Practitioner.
Adherence to health and ethical codes, including when under duress.
Attendance at medical conferences.
Personable, supportive disposition.
Strong ability to triage and multitask.
Excellent administrative skills.
