Description: A “chest physician,“ also commonly called a pulmonologist, is a medical doctor specializing in diagnosing and treating diseases affecting the lungs and respiratory system, including conditions like asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, lung cancer, and sleep apnea; they perform thorough examinations, interpret lung function tests, and develop treatment plans to manage respiratory issues.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field.
Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
3 to 7 years’ internship and clinical residency training, specializing in pulmonology.
Successful completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
Certification by The American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonology.
Valid and active medical license in the state you wish to practice.
